Visions

Denton, TX — September, 2011

Empty faces fill the artwork
As it’s tortured on the wall
And the subway cars chug along
Remembering grandfather steam engines

The candle transfigures darkness
As it eats up all the wick
And wax drips off, sculpting scenery
But vanishes with the wind

Locked inside a screen door
Your mind escapes like a fly
Flutters, grows, dips, and dives
But is snatched up by a bird

Blank swirls of color
Emanate here and there
The audiophile’s stereo
Sending vibrations everywhere

The wine it spills all over you
And fills up the whole room
As we make new first impressions
Upon the dance floor’s oak

An old friend mounting endless stairs
Is questioned by the king
A dog runs by relentlessly
Howling visions and what they bring
